1 April 2025 THE PUREST BLUE: HUBLOT UNVEILS THE BIG BANG UNICO IN WATER BLUE SAPPHIRE April 1st, Geneva, Switzerland - As the king of advanced and experimental materials, Hublot once again demonstrates its unrivalled mastery of sapphire crystal and the many colours it can take on with the Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire, a limited edition of 50 pieces. Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire VIEW FULL DETAILS It was less than a decade ago that Hublot first experimented with the idea of having a watch case crafted in transparent sapphire. Never content with simply maintaining the status quo, Hublot went on to develop a wide palette of coloured sapphire. A laborious process, creating new colours of transparent sapphire requires far more than simply switching pigments. Each colour requires finding the precise formula and adjusting the process accordingly, to ensure a qualitative result both aesthetically and functionally. The challenge is further compounded by the complexity of the Big Bang’s unique layered construction. Water Blue sapphire marks the latest development from Hublot’s R&D department and its mission to keep finding new creative avenues by making the impossible a tangible reality. A light yet intense hue, Water Blue sapphire evokes tropical, crystal-clear waters, taking the wearer on a sensory voyage. Measuring 44mm wide, the case and bezel are matched by the translucent blue rubber strap, as well as the blue accents on open dial’s indexes and hands. The Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire is powered by Hublot’s first in-house developed and manufactured calibre, the Unico. Built with a contemporary architecture, the automatic integrated chronograph movement with a column-wheel clutching system is composed of 354 components, simplified to ensure reliability and robustness. Its bi-directional winding system efficiently helps reach the Unico’s power reserve of 72 hours. For the Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire, the movement is finished in a sleek grey tone to enhance the visual brightness.
